10:30 am: OCLC Competencies: Build Relevant Job Descriptions, Performance Reviews and Continuing Education Plans ~ Nan Carmack, M.Ed., M.L.S.. Carmack is the director of the Campbell County Public Library System and awaits defending her dissertation on the relevance and use of OCLC competencies in preparing librarians for the workforce.

12:00 noon: Lunch (Optional boxed lunch available for $10-selection & payment due at registration)

1:00 pm: JUST WHEN WE NEED THEM MOST: The Crazier the Times the More Important Libraries, Librarians and the (MOSTLY) Sane Prospective They Provide Become. ~Keith Ferrell, Author. Ferrell is the author of almost twenty books, fiction and nonfiction, including the novel Passing Judgment and the NYT Nonfiction Bestseller History Decoded (co-written with Brad Meltzer), as well as biographies for Young Adults, and several pseudonymous novels. Ferrell currently lives, writes and farms on 35 acres in the hills of southern Virginia, and is engaged with an immense new novel as well as a large nonfiction project.
